This past weekend I watched the movie Dolphin Tale with my kids, and if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it. A young boy helps save a dolphin named Winter, and begins skipping school to take care of it during the day. There are some great scenes early in the movie showing the single mom finding out about the ditching and eventually deciding that the “work” her son was doing was more valuable than the “work” he was doing in school, and lets him pull out. It’s a huge show of confidence for homeschooling chosen for valid reasons. The movie also carries a great message about persevering even with great physical disabilities. My 7 & 9-year-olds loved this movie; it choked me up more than once, but movies do that to me. Have you seen it? What did you think?
