Here’s a pop-up book that is not intended for pre-schoolers! It is densely illustrated and full of information about the life of Shakespeare and the dramas of his time:

Another delightful Diane Stanley biography, a hardback book with large, detailed illustrations on every/other page:

An upper-elementary level period-piece about a boy who is being forced to steal a play by Shakespeare!

An elementary-level biography of Galileo:

This hard-back Usborne book is a great spine for elementary students. It has 2-page spreads for a variety of different topics. The first several spreads cover basic archaeology and the earliest civilizations. The book covers basic elements of world history up to (but not including) World War I:
