For Elementary Students: We like the Scholastic Biography of Martin Luther King Jr. called I Have A Dream.  We also get the book out for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

I also really like the story called Sister Anne’s Hands.  Sister Anne is the first black teacher that a young girl encounters, and it is beautifully illustrated.

A touching picture book to introduce the ugliness of racism to young children:
